A Thanksgiving Tablescape with Greenery and Pumpkins

November 13, 2018

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving is just around the corner! It’s one of my favorite holidays (food, family, and a four-day weekend – what more could you want?) In terms of Thanksgiving decor, pilgrims and turkeys aren’t really my thing. So, I used pumpkins, greenery from my yard, and candles to create a simple Thanksgiving tablescape.

Leaves from one of our magnolia trees create a natural “runner” for our dining room table. The small pumpkins and gourds were leftover Halloween decorations.

Instead of traditional candleholders, I placed the candles in mason jars for a more casual, rustic look. Make sure that there are leaves under the candles, though, because the wax will need somewhere to fall when it drips!

For some added touches of green, I picked ferns from our yard and placed them in assorted glass bottles. Before putting them in the bottles, I removed the lower leaves.

My mother-in-law gave me these pretty cloth napkins, which are perfect for fall. (These are similar.) I wrapped some twine around each napkin and tucked in a sprig of parsley or thyme from my “herb garden” (I use that term very loosely…). For holidays, I like to use my grandmother’s silver. This was also a good chance to dust off our wedding china.

All we need now is the food and family! This year, I’m thankful for many things, including the family and friends who have supported me as I’ve started this blog. I hope you all have a very happy Thanksgiving!
