Whether you’re hosting a shower, throwing a backyard BBQ, or brunching in the garden, I’ve put together some simple and affordable floral centerpieces that will bring summer cheer to your celebration.

You can never go wrong with white hydrangeas! They are my favorite flower. You don’t need too many to make a big impact. And they work just as well for a formal wedding as for a Sunday brunch.

For this arrangement, I purchased the hydrangeas from the grocery store (2 for $3). The stems are cut short – about 5 to 6 inches – because I wanted the hydrangeas to essentially rest on the top of the pot. The trick is to place a small glass inside the pot filled with water, and then place the stems in the glass. (Turns out my husband’s whiskey tumbler was a perfect fit – much to his dismay…) I then filled out around the rim of the terra cotta pot with leaves that I had trimmed off the stem.

For this centerpiece, I placed three hydrangeas in a simple glass pitcher (although any vase would do the trick). I put the pitcher in the center of one of my serving dishes and surrounded it with green moss. It’s an easy way to add a little character to simple vase – and a good excuse to pull out those platters you never use!
Daisies are another favorite of mine. They are so affordable and last for such a long time. And does anything look more quintessentially summer than daisies?

I found these blue mason jars at an estate sale and bought them in three different sizes. For groupings of flowers, you’ll want to use an odd number of jars. I wrapped some twine around the top of the mason jars to give them a more rustic look. I love how sweet these daisies look on our picnic table!

You can also use mason jars for a more elegant look, if you pair them with your nice china, like I did for Easter one year. These white azaleas were trimmed from our yard, but you could use white alstroemerias as an affordable alternative.
I hope this gives you some inspiration for your upcoming spring and summer events! Although, you don’t really need a special occasion or reason for fresh flowers, do you??
Your Easter table was lovely with these flowers! Thanks for hosting our celebration 😘
